West Brom-focused Twitter account @BaggiesHQ recently posted a tweet sharing the reported news that the FA have announced that the 2019/20 Premier League season must be decided on “sporting merit.”
As explained by this tweet from @BaggiesHQ, this would take the option of voiding the season off the table. This news was recently reported by The Independent who stated that this announcement from the FA “came at the very start of Monday’s crunch video conference”, before going on to claim that the FA’s hand had been “forced by the amount of politicking over ‘Project Restart’ in the last few weeks.”
Some Baggies fans have been responding positively to @BaggiesHQ’s tweet sharing this news, with some West Brom supporters taking this reported announcement to mean that they are likely to earn promotion to the Premier League for next season, with the club currently sitting in second place on the Championship table, six points clear of third-placed Fulham.

End of day regardless on whether matches are played or not promotion and relegation should stand if you’ve been bottom 90% of season it’s not going to change

We’re 2nd, 6 pts clear of Fulham and on PPG we’d still finish second.
Add to this we’ve got arguably one of if not the best squads and managers in the division, means I’m confident enough.

What do we think?
Considering that West Brom were sitting in an automatic promotion position prior to the postponement of the professional game in England back in March, it may be understandable why they have reacted positively to this reported announcement from the FA, calling for the 2019/20 campaign to be decided on ‘sporting merit’, as opposed to voiding the season if it can’t be completed on the pitch.
