Sheffield Wednesday-focused Twitter account @VitalWednesday recently posted a tweet sharing the news that Osaze Urhoghide is reportedly in talks to extend his contract at Hillsborough.

This news regarding Urhoghide originally surfaced via The Sheffield Star who reported that Ricky Pattenden of Every Aspect Sports Management has confirmed that “talks are underway with Wednesday management regarding Urhoghide’s future.”

This report from The Sheffield Star explains that the 19-year-old right-back’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, although the club does already have the option to extend his deal by another year at present. However, the Owls are said to have “plans well beyond 2021 for the talented full-back” according to this article.

Some Owls fans have flocked to @VitalWednesday’s tweet sharing this update on Urhoghide and those Wednesday fans have had some mixed reactions to this news. Read the responses of some Owls fans to this contract news in the tweets below.

What do we think?

As per talkSPORT, Urhoghide “won the hearts of football fans up and down the country” following his post-match interview after the Owls’ FA Cup clash with Brighton & Hove Albion back in January, a game which saw the player make his first-team debut for the club.

Considering how much praise the young defender received after this post-match interview in January, in which he seemed delighted to have made his Owls debut, it might be nice to see him get an opportunity to extend his stay at the club if these contract talks prove successful.
