A group of Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been discussing a recent interview given by goalkeeper Cameron Dawson to BBC Yorkshire. The 24-year-old spoke about the recent return to training, the pandemic that has seen the Championship come to an abrupt halt and how the break has given the players a chance to reset after a ‘tough time’.
At the time of the season’s suspension, Garry Monk’s side had won just one of their last six league fixtures and as a result, find themselves in 15th position. Dawson has kept goal for the Owls on 24 occasions in the Championship this season, conceding 34 goals along the way and managing eight clean sheets (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
So how have some of the Hillsborough faithful responded to seeing their goalkeeper in the media and his comments?
Hopefully when the season starts again he will be on the bench. Still having nightmares about some of his performances, the Brentford one especially. What’s the saying, you’re only as good as your last performance.

I’m just wondering which is important, 22 football players getting back to playing matches, or 22 people that are furloughed on minimum wages going back to work or lastly 22 Drs and Nurses working very long hours saving lives and on about £20,000 a YEAR? Hmmm

Would you like to see Sheffield Wednesday replace Dawson next season?
Yes
No
Whereas others were less harsh in their assessment of the interview.

What do we think?
Some of these Sheffield Wednesday supporters took the opportunity to comment on Dawson’s appearance but one fan was keen to mention some of the young man’s sub-standard performances. According to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating in the Championship season currently stands at 6.24/10 which is somewhat underwhelming and supports this particular fan’s point.
