A group of Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been discussing a recent article by Dom Howson for Yorkshire Live. The piece focuses on the issue of leadership within the team and contains a number of fan comments.
The Owls currently find themselves in 15th place in the Championship, eight points off the play-off positions and as per the article, many fans and several players have voiced their concerns over the mentality of the squad in recent times.
Here is how some of the Hillsborough faithful have responded to the post on Twitter.
One (several) of the signings we need is a leader. Monk’s on record as having identified this. I wouldn’t have any current player as captain. I’d be looking to recruit one.

Lees should have never been made captain in the first place, he’s far too timid and you only have to look at his dip in form when he took the armband while loovens was injured

2 leaders left at home every week…… only inspiration in the current 1st team squad cones from Bannan

The 2 leaders are chucked in the seconds…..

Do you think Tom Lees is a suitable captain?
Yes
No
I’d rather have some good young players, than leaders.

Feel sorry for them writing about it..
Literally don’t care— ?onthe?????????? (@philluptheowls) May 23, 2020
What do we think?
It is clear from the above responses the majority of these fans feel the team lack adequate leadership, with one claiming current captain Tom Lees should never have been given the armband in the first place.
In our view, it is highly unlikely Sheffield Wednesday will be able to push for the play-offs if and when the Championship season resumes, but this could be an important summer in terms of a rebuild for Garry Monk’s side.
