A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to a tweet from Twitter user Barney V2 that contains quotes from Kalvin Phillips on Steve Evans.
The 24-year-old, speaking to Forza Football Academy via Instagram, claimed that Evans made him promises that he didn’t keep, and Phillips even said that ‘it was an awful time to be at the club’. (44:40)
This has drawn a reaction from these Leeds fans, who are not surprised at Phillips’ comments on Evans.
Are you surprised by this?
No
Yes
Kalvin Phillips asked
‘Who is the worse manager you’ve ever played under?’
Kalvin- ‘Steve Evans he promised me stuff, he promised me that I’d be playing on the Saturday then on match day I wouldn’t even be on the bench, it was an awful time at the club’ #lufc

Seems a wide shared sentiment from Leeds players at that time that Evans was awful. Seemed to think Rosler was hard done by.

Other Whites supporters, though, were keen to remind the midfielder that he was poor at the beginning of his career at Elland Road.
I think people forget that he was shocking before Bielsa and maybe Monk came in, to the point where alot of people wanted to get rid

At the time bridcutt mowatt and cook was streets ahead of him, only until the monk era that we saw glimpses of KP ability and even then he had some shockers, Bielsa made him top drawer.

What do we think?
Under Evans, Phillips played seven matches before the former Rotherham boss was sacked and replaced with Garry Monk.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Phillips didn’t like Evans (44:40) because of his apparent lack of opportunities.
Evans was at Elland Road from October 2015 to May 2016, winning 14 matches in that time and leaving after he guided the Whites to a 13th-placed finish.
Therefore, it is no surprise to see some Leeds fans slating Evans for his time in charge of the club.
