A lot of Leeds United fans have replied to a tweet from Beren Cross that includes an article about what Victor Orta’s comments could mean for Gaetano Berardi.
The piece includes quotes from Victor Orta’s recent interview with Guillem Balague (via LeedsLive).
In this interview, Orta talked about what footballers whose contracts are due to expire on June the 30th are going to do. (23:48)
The Spaniard believes that it will be up to each player, but ultimately would they prefer to leave on July 1st when there will be no market or stay with their current club for another two months and collect their salary.
This has got these Leeds fans talking about Berardi, with some suggesting that they want the 31-year-old to stay with the club for longer.
Do you want to see Berardi's contract extended?
Yes
No
Berardi's time at Leeds United is up on June 30, but Victor Orta expects the Swiss to be around if football still needs to be played into July and beyond. #lufc https://t.co/9SUntgMtDE

Be sad if we never see him in a Leeds shirt again – he deserves that round of applause, a standing ovation, he has served the club and is a true legend of this period

What do we think?
These comments from Orta suggest that Leeds will be attempting to keep Berardi, but as he said, it is ultimately down to the player.
The 31-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Whites this season (excluding the one friendly) and earned an average rating of 6.63 for his displays in the league.
However, his deal at Elland Road expires on June the 30th, but judging by these responses, many Leeds fans would love him to stay for longer.
