Sky Sports’ Ben Ransom recently posted a tweet that includes a link to an article that was recently published by Sky Sports which discusses Tahnoon Nimer’s attempts to sell his stake in Charlton Athletic and also features some comments from Huw Jenkins, who is one of the club’s potential buyers and has been discussing this takeover.
Some parts of this Sky Sports article, such as the claim that former Watford owner Laurence Bassini is interested in taking over Charlton and the information that Jenkins had been given a 48-hour period of exclusivity to complete the takeover, which has now expired thus opening the door to other potential buyers, have gotten many Addicks fans talking. Some of them have been sharing concern for their club, while others have been considering who else could be interested in taking the club over.

48 hours to do a deal that’s impossible.

This is a ‘fakeover’ of the ESI ‘fakeover’ – no-one has any money to put into the club, just a group of chancers all fighting over the left overs of our club. @EFL promised to change their processes to stop another Bury – LIARS – months later exactly the same people involved!!

Ben thanks for reporting this, any idea on who the other parties are Mike Ashley, Andrew Muir? And how close they could be?

Does this article make you more worried about Charlton Athletic?YESNO |
If Bassini wins the race to ownership #cafc really will be at the end. Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse at The Valley…

Surely someone like bassini who’s been banned from football before should not be allowed near a @EFL club again
If he is then surely that proves the @EFL fit and proper person act is flawed #cafc— Jason Allen (@jasdon2003uk192) May 25, 2020
Nahh it’s worse we got taken over in January only for the new owners to rinse the bank account and sell us again a few months later for over 1million….not bad concider ING they only spent a quid to get the club and by the end will have taken 4 mil in 4 months ????

What do we think?
It appears as though there are plenty of unknowns surrounding the Addicks at present in the wake of the confirmation that Tahnoon Nimer is in the process of selling his stake in the club. With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Addicks fans may be concerned about their club, especially with people like Bassini, who had been accused of “financial impropriety” during his time at Watford, being talked about as potential buyers.
