Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST) recently posted a tweet that includes a link to an article from castrust.org, which relays a statement that the club recently made regarding their ownership and also shares some alleged confirmation from the club that it is “not true” that Charlton Athletic has been or will be sold to Laurence Bassini.

The Addicks released a statement via their official website last Friday confirming that “the club has received notice of a change in ownership at East Street Investments”, who completed a takeover of the club back in January. However, earlier this month, the Evening Standard reported that the club’s majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer “could sell” Charlton if he could not “prove funding to the EFL”.

The latest news from Charlton is that the club has received notice of a change in ownership. There have been reports linking Bassini, who was accused of financial impropriety during his time as the owner of Watford, with the Addicks. However, as per CAST, the club have stated that Bassini is not involved in this change in ownership.

Some Addicks fans have taken this news from CAST positively, while others have taken this opportunity to speculate on who could be behind this change in ownership. Read the reactions of some Charlton fans to this post in the tweets below.

Considering that Bassini had been accused of financial impropriety during his time with Watford, it’s not surprising that some Addicks fans seem pleased to hear that he is not involved with this change in ownership at the club.
