Ex-Charlton Athletic centre-back Patrick Bauer caught the attention of many Addicks fans after he posted a tweet in response to a post from Charlton’s official Twitter account to reminisce over his winning goal in the 2018/19 League One play-off final versus Sunderland.
The Addicks recently posted a tweet which includes some footage of this goal and some comments from Bauer who discusses the goal and what it meant for him to score it. The German defender subsequently responded to this post via a tweet of his own in which he reminisces over the events immediately leading up to his goal following Josh Cullen’s cross which set him up to win this game with a 94th-minute strike.
A lot of Addicks fans have been sharing their appreciation for Bauer in response to his tweet and many of them have stated that they miss the defender, who departed from The Valley last summer to join Preston North End on a free transfer. Read the reactions of some Charlton fans to the defender’s recent post in the tweets below.

What do we think?
Considering that Bauer, who is currently valued at £1.53m according to Transfermarkt, scored the winning goal in last season’s League One play-off final, it may be understandable why these Addicks fans have shared some appreciation for him despite the fact that he departed from the club on a free transfer last summer.
