Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest post about Paul Gascoigne that emerged on Twitter recently.
A Celtic fan with the name ‘St. Anthony’ recently posted an image of Gascoigne playing against Celtic during his time at the Hoops’ Old Firm rivals. The post said that he could never ‘take to’ Gascoigne even before he arrived in Scotland and also referenced his ‘off-field shenanigans’.
On seeing this tweet, many Celtic fans were talking about Gascoigne. Many of them had negative things to say about the former England international.
Gasgoine was a great player but a complete clown. Fame and fortune only exacerbated that. Quite tragic really.

Would you have liked Gascoigne at Celtic?
Never!
Absolutely!
I read his book and thought entirely different about him. A man with problems.

Can’t stand him but thought when on song he was more more important to them than laudrup! Just my opinion

Great player, but often a reprehensible human being.
Clearly someone who needed help earlier in his career and never got it, quite sad really.

Gascoigne had come up with the ‘flute celebration’ against Celtic back in 1998. The former England international had plied his trade with Tottenham and Lazio during his playing career and had arrived in Scotland from the Biancocelesti themselves in the summer of 1995 (via Transfermarkt).
What do we think?
Considering Gascoigne had played for the Gers and had come up with the flute celebration, one can see why Celtic fans don’t like him much. But considering Gascoigne made a total of 57 appearances for the England national team, it appears clear that the 52-year-old had talent.
