Some Celtic fans have been talking about the latest comments that Richard Foster has made about the extension of player contracts during the ongoing pandemic.
The Ross County player was recently talking to BBC Scotland. He said that it is ‘morally shocking’ that clubs aren’t extending contracts of players. He also criticised clubs for not using the government’s furlough scheme even though such arrangements are in place.
BBC Scotland relayed this information on Twitter. Celtic fans flocked to this. Many of them took shots at Foster, with one bringing up that his wife has enough money to keep him afloat as she is famous singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald.
Sell one of your wife’s Ferrari’s you be ok

Will Celtic fans ever agree with Foster about this?
Never
He's right
If he never played for your beloved *rangers would his opinion be relevant?

He’s been stealing a wage as a pro footballer for years.

The furlough scheme provides funding for company staff who there is currently no work for. This being the case I would imagine it would be a breach to extend a contract and then claim there is no work.

Why would they extend a contract they intend to end?! Bizarre. Fraud perhaps

He’s the most released player in football history

Foster also said in the same interview that seeking help from the government will allow players to keep earning a wage ‘in these uncertain times’, arguing that the furlough scheme is there to help people.
What do we think?
Many Celtic fans don’t seem to have a liking for Foster, despite him raising an issue that could be affecting clubs of all sizes across the football world and irrespective of his own financial standing. However, considering Foster is a former Rangers player, one can see why they don’t like him too much.
