A group of Celtic fans have taken to social media in response to a tweet by Newcastle United-dedicated account @NUFC360. The post claims that Hoops striker Odsonne Edouard views the Premier League club as an attractive next step in his career (via The Scottish Mail – print edition).
Neil Lennon’s side have just been crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth successive year, but with the prospective takeover of Newcastle United by the Saudi-led consortium expected to be completed imminently, they could be looking to add to their striking options this summer.
Edouard is just 22 years of age and scored an impressive 21 goals whilst providing 12 assists in the Scottish Premiership this season (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Therefore, it’s understandable why he may be attracting the attention of some Premier League clubs.
Here is how some of the Celtic fans have responded to the report.

Yeah, he’s destined for the top. Sometimes he reminds be of Virgil in the way he strolls through a game. Hope we keep him for another season.

What do we think?
It’s clear these Celtic fans hold their striker in very high regard and don’t want to lose him to the Premier League outfit. Given the recent pandemic, we believe it’s extremely difficult to predict how this summer’s transfer window will go.
