In a feature on their official website, Celtic have been listing some of the world’s greatest footballers who have played at Celtic Park over the years. Thursday’s piece featured Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 35-year-old appeared at Parkhead back in November 2006 for a UEFA Champions League tie between Celtic and Manchester United. The Hoops won that night, courtesy of a wonderful free-kick from Shunsuke Nakamura (as per BBC Sport).
Two years later, Manchester United and Ronaldo returned, this time holding the Scottish giants to a draw when Ryan Giggs’ late equaliser cancelled out Scott McDonald’s first-half goal (as per Sky Sports). Here is how the club’s supporters have responded to the post on social media.

What do we think?
Ronaldo, who is valued at £54 million (as per Transfermarkt), has gone on to become one of the stars of world football. A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, the Portuguese international has gone on to represent Real Madrid and Juventus since his days in Manchester. Described by some as the greatest of all time, in years to come, anybody who had the pleasure of watching him play will cherish the memory, as some Celtic fans have done here.
