Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers have been reacting to an announcement which was posted to Twitter by the Old Gold on the Premier League’s ‘provisional return date’.

According to Wolves’ post to their website, Premier League shareholders have agreed that England’s top flight will restart on Wednesday 17th June if all safety requirements are in place (per Wolves).

The two matches which will restart the Premier League season on the 17th will be Sheffield United vs Aston Villa and Manchester City vs Arsenal.

A full round of matches will then take place on the following weekend, beginning on Friday 19th June (per Wolves).

Football in the UK has been suspended since mid-March due to the current viral outbreak (per BBC), having initially been suspended until April before it was suspended indefinitely (per BBC).

Following the return of the German Bundesliga in mid-May which has been a ‘major success’ for clubs and broadcasters (per BBC), it seems that a trail has been blazed.

While the return of the Bundesliga has not been without criticism, the majority of fears prior to its return have been proven wrong since its comeback (per BBC).

So, following Wolves’ announcement on the Premier League season being shared to supporters on social media (per Wolves), fans aired their reactions.

In Wolves’ announcement on the return of the Premier League, they revealed that the matches would be played behind closed doors and that all of the 92 remaining games would be broadcast live (per Wolves).

The league’s existing broadcast partners: Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime will be screening all of the remaining top-flight fixtures (per Wolves).

As can be seen in these responses from Wolves fans, there are some mixed reactions but the general consensus seems to be that they are pleased a return date has been set.
