A group of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been discussing midfielder Joao Moutinho in response to Joe Edwards’ piece for the Express & Star on the 33-year-old. The article praises the former Monaco star’s ‘excellent passing range and high energy’, before taking a look at some of his statistics over the current season.
Moutinho, who is now valued at £7.2 million (Transfermarkt), arrived at Molineux from Monaco in July 2018 in a deal reportedly worth £5.04m and has gone on to make 90 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to date. According to Edwards’ report, he leads his teammates in terms of most passes completed and most successful tackles. He also comes in joint-second with Raul Jimenez in terms of assists provided.
Here is what a sample of the club’s supporters have had to say regarding the Portuguese international on Twitter.

Arguably he’s playing just as good now as he ever has ? He’s got 3 or 4 years left in him . Great attitude and extremely fit .

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that the Wolves fans hold their midfielder in extremely high regard. Moutinho’s average performance rating in the Premier League this season currently stands at an impressive 7.09/10 (via WhoScored.com), and therefore you can understand why he is a popular figure in the West Midlands.
