Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest transfer rumour linking their club with a move for Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez.

According to Estadio Deportivo (via TranSPURS), Mourinho is ‘pushing’ to sign the 22-year-old this summer. The report also suggests that due to Marseille’s financial problems, they are resigned to losing the young midfielder for just €10 million (£8.97 million), suggesting that it could be a relatively cheap transfer for the Lilywhites.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

The Frenchman disappointed in his performances in the recently abandoned Ligue 1, contributing no goals and three assists in 23 appearances in the French top-flight, averaging a poor 6.35 rating (per WhoScored).

A few Spurs fans commented that Lopez looks to be a decent player on the ball, which is perhaps backed up by him being Marseille’s joint fourth-highest contributor of key passes this season, with 0.8 per game (per WhoScored).

One of these fans commented that he believed Lopez reminds him of FC Barcelona legend Xavi, whilst the other suggested that he would be an upgrade on Harry Winks, despite the Englishman’s superior 6.52 average rating for his performances in the league so far this season.
