Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting to an update provided by Football.london’s Alasdair Gold on the future of Luis Campos. Reports emerged earlier this week that Lille’s sporting director has asked to leave the club (via RMC Sport), and that could open the door for him to join Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
Campos’ track record is a good one – he’s been credited with either the signings or development of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Nicolas Pepe, Benjamin Mendy and Thomas Lemar (as per planetfootball.com). Spurs have been without a sporting director since Paul Mitchell’s departure and there were suggestions that the North London club approached the 55-year-old Campos back in November when Mourinho was appointed. The pair are said to be close friends.
In a recent tweet, Gold played down links between Campos and an imminent move to North London, and while he suspects Spurs would be interested in bringing him in, it is unlikely that they would be the only potential suitors for the Portuguese sporting director.
So how have some of the fans responded to this latest update?

Do you think Campos would be a success at Spurs?
Yes
No
Not worried about the deal getting over the line. I’m worried how long he’ll last here…

The harbinger of doom….

Getting him will be more cost for Spurs, and when you know how Levy runs things, my take on that is – it´s not gonna happen. Levy will save that money and keep on with current structure (not a winning (trophy) strategy) It makes me sad as I want to push for next level…..

What do we think?
Based on the above responses, it is clear that many of the club’s supporters would love to see Campos come in, but some have concerns as to whether he’d last very long given the current setup. In our view, his impressive track record and his strong relationship with Mourinho make him an ideal candidate for the role.
