Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the reported news that Real Betis have offered Jan Vertonghen a two-year contract.
According to Paul Brown in the Daily Star (via Talking THFC), the La Liga side have offered the Belgian international a two-year deal after holding extensive talks with his representatives. The 33-year-old’s contract with Spurs is set to expire this summer and it now seems as if his near eight-year spell at the club could be coming to an end.
Spurs signed the defender from Ajax in 2012 and in his time with the Lilywhites he has gone on to make 311 appearances, contributing 14 goals and seven assists (per Transfermarkt).
Will you be sad to see Vertonghen go?

These Spurs fans seem upset that Vertonghen could be leaving, but also seem to agree that he is no longer good enough to be starting.
What do we think?
Considering how the current viral outbreak could impact the financial side of football, it is perhaps a surprise that Vertonghen seemingly hasn’t been offered the chance to stay with Spurs, as his average rating of 6.85 in the Premier League (as per WhoScored) suggests he could still be a decent backup in Mourinho’s squad.
