Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing the latest transfer rumour linking the North London club with a move for Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho.
According to Transfer20 (via Ricky Sacks), Spurs are rumoured to be interested in signing the Portuguese international this summer. So far this season, the 28-year-old has really struggled to find form in La Liga, having averaged a disappointing 6.39 rating across his nine appearances in the Spanish top flight (per WhoScored).
The former Sporting Lisbon man has also struggled with injury problems throughout the season, suggesting that he perhaps wouldn’t be the safest signing for Spurs this summer. However, with the midfielder currently valued at £14.4 million, he could be a fairly cheap option ahead of next season.
Would Carvalho be a good signing for Spurs?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Carvalho can be seen in the tweets below.
This would be a good signing. Reunites William with Dier. Had some injury issues. This is like signing Matic – quality but you’re not sure of the minutes.
I’d prefer Hojbjerg if we are only signing one DM. He’s younger & used to the league.
Interested in the Gerson rumors too.

would be a good purchase but he lacks pace

These Spurs fans certainly feel that Carvalho could be a good signing this summer.
What do we think?
Carvalho has struggled to find form and has regularly been injured this season, so Spurs might be better off looking elsewhere for a defensive midfielder this summer.
