In his latest Q&A session with Spurs fans, Alasdair Gold answered a question on whether or not Luis Campos will be joining the North London club this summer.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the Lille Director of Football in recent weeks, with the 55-year-old having reportedly asked to leave Les Dogues this summer. Gold has now offered his own thoughts on whether the Portuguese director could link up with Jose Mourinho at the Lilywhites, a man who Campos described as ‘like a brother’ in an interview with Sky Sports.

How well do you remember Heung-Min Son's time with Spurs? - The Lilywhites signed Son from which Bundesliga side?

He said (per Football.london):

“There’s no doubting that the north London club would like to bring in Campos – most top clubs in Europe would – however he would have to leave Lille first and there are now doubts that he even asked to leave the Ligue 1 club and instead was just asking for some changes to be made.

“Mourinho and Campos are close friends, knowing each other from the Portuguese league and then working together at Real Madrid before the latter went on to become one of the game’s best sporting directors.

“Campos would be perfect for Spurs and Daniel Levy with his ability to work to whatever budget set for him and find uncut gems for his clubs.”

Would Campos be able to deliver a similar level of success at Spurs as he has enjoyed at previous clubs?

TIF Tactics:

It seems as if Gold believes that Spurs are interested in bringing Campos to the club this summer, but they will face competition from plenty of clubs around Europe. He goes on to suggest that:

“However, nothing appears to be imminent about him arriving in north London, and his contract with Lille is a slightly different one, in that it’s believed that the scouting company he runs has the three year deal with the French outfit.

“I wouldn’t bet against him coming to Spurs in the future, particularly as he has always said he would follow Mourinho anywhere, but he will be inundated with offers should he actually decided to leave Lille.”

Campos has a great reputation, as during his time with AS Monaco, he helped scout talents such as Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, and James Rodriguez, which led to Sky Sports dubbing him the ‘transfer chief with the Midas Touch.’ Considering Spurs’ current standing in the league, we’re sure that both Levy and Mourinho would enjoy working alongside someone seemingly capable of turning every signing he makes into gold.
