Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a tweet from NUFC 360, which suggests that the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust has written to the New Statesman magazine with a complaint about how they represented Toon fans in an article.

The tweet from NUFC 360 suggests that: “The article included a number of factually incorrect statements. This is fabrication and a clear breach of the Editors’ Code published by the Independent Press Standards Organisation.”

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust report can be found here. Many Newcastle fans began talking about this.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

The article in question was written by Jonathan Liew and addresses the responses of some Newcastle United fans to a tweet from Hatice Cengiz, the fiancee of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Liew suggests that “Even if the Saudi deal fails to go through (it is currently pending Premier League approval), Newcastle fans have already shown their hand. And currently, it’s holding up a middle finger to the widow of a murdered dissident in the hope of a few big signings in the summer transfer window. ” (per New Statesman)

These Newcastle fans seem split between slamming Liew’s article, whilst others simply wanted to speculate about the latest on the takeover.

It was reported earlier last week that the takeover has been approved by the Premier League, so it seems as if the announcement, whether it be positive or negative news for Toon fans, will be made at some point in the near future.
