A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from journalist Paul Smith after he offered his opinion on the report in The Guardian concerning the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The Guardian claims that the World Trade Organisation has found direct links between piracy station BeoutQ and the Saudi government.
This has apparently thrown Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover into ‘serious doubt.’
However, Smith believes that this won’t stop the takeover because the Premier League must prove that the individuals involved in the NUFC takeover are also involved in piracy.
Despite this, though, many Newcastle fans appear to be sick and tired of this saga.
Do you agree with Smith?
Yes
No
One failing in this story, but then it wouldn’t be a story. Unless the @premierleague can prove the individuals involved in the #NUFCTakeover are directly involved this won’t stop the takeover #NUFC https://t.co/Fm1SD6GJR3 pic.twitter.com/KWKcHFmerI

Just all getting a bit boring now paul. One way or the other I just wished they would give a decision.

My personal feeling on this now is that it won’t happen.
It’s been dragging on and on.
Either way this needs to end soon. Its ridiculous.— Magpiemarge1ofthe10k (@Margeandrews20) May 26, 2020
How long though. Surely all aspects have been reviewed by now unless the premier league are listening to the top 6 and asking to block the takeover. They’ve got to put something out and soon. Our fan base is beyond delirium

Your mistaken WTO just handed the prem what they were looking for

I think the length of time this is taking it doesn’t look good now

Other Toon supporters, though, are pleased with Smith’s words.
100% agree as per usual with your comments

exactly. I wish people would read the Directors test properly.

What do we think?
Smith has remained very positive over the proposed takeover of the Toon in recent weeks, and a quick look through his timeline will reveal this.
However, this latest evidence of piracy could be a concern, and it is likely to cause further delay, which is what appears to be annoying Toon fans the most.
So, for their sake, we hope there is a conclusion to this soon.
