Many Newcastle United fans have been responding to Keith Downie’s recent Twitter post in which he revealed he has spoken to somebody very familiar with takeovers, who has told him that “the current NUFC situation is not unusual, other than the fact much of it has been played out in the media”.
The Sky Sports reporter’s update will come as a boost to those supporters growing concerned by the lack of progress in recent days. Reports have recently emerged that a number of Premier League clubs have expressed ‘concerns’ about the takeover being given the green light (via The Sun) and so with all that in mind, how have these Newcastle fans responded to Downie’s update?
What a great Xmas present this takeover announcement will be ????

5 or 6 weeks now. Nah that’s definitely not normal. Something very serious must be going on in the background for it to be dragged out like this. It’s gonna be blocked

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that opinion on what may happen in the coming days, weeks or months appears divided. There are some who remain confident of the deal being completed and others who fear it being blocked by the Premier League due to the pressure being put on them by some of the competition’s stakeholders.
