Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays comments made by Jim White on the Magpies’ proposed takeover.
Speaking to TalkSPORT last week, White rather confidently claimed that he believed Newcastle’s takeover “will go through”.
However, on Monday, White appeared to change his opinion on the matter, once again speaking on TalkSPORT, stating that the Premier League has not begun conducting the owners’ and directors’ test into the Saudi Arabian-backed takeover (as per Football Insider).
In reaction to his latest comments, NUFC 360 quote-tweeted White’s remarks from May 21, before commenting: “Three days ago. Now he says that the Premier League haven’t even looked at the takeover. Don’t worry folks. Bloke spouts absolute nonsense on a regular basis.”
In reaction to the post, fans of Newcastle have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many calling out White for his latest remarks.
Are you confident the takeover will be completed?
Yes
No

Lost all respect I had for him. The guy has literally said 3 different takes on it. 6 weeks and haven’t looked? ?

Same sort of lies Richard Keys keeps peddling.

What do we think?
It would seem that many of these Newcastle fans no longer trust the words of White, and after changing his tune so quickly and dramatically, we can’t say that we blame them.
However, if recent reports in The Sun are to be believed, Newcastle’s takeover is set to be given the green light by the Premier League, just as soon as the transferring of funds is sorted.
As such, regardless of White’s latest comments, it would appear as if the takeover deal is still a matter of when, rather than if.
