A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from George Caulkin in response to a report in The Times about the proposed takeover of the Toon.
They claimed that Newcastle’s takeover has hit ‘significant political obstacles which could hold up any sale of the club’.
This is because MP George Watling, a member of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, called for a select committee panel to review the evidence of Saudi Arabian piracy of British sport.
This triggered some Toon fans to panic, but Caulkin has offered his view on the situation and believes that it is a Premier League decision because the government have said they won’t intervene.
This drew a reaction from these Toon fans, with some still frustrated but others reassured by Caulkin’s words.
Has this tweet from Caulkin eased your fears?
Yes
No
I only have the same answers. The government have previously said they won’t intervene – as this article says. And it’s a Premier League decision, not a select committee’s.

Thanks George. So many people that just want this to fail. I hope the buyers are still confident. Were there expecting this much backlash?

All this opposition is convincing me even more that the project in store for NUFC,if this goes through, will hurt other teams.

What do we think?
This latest report is just another challenge to add to the list that includes the likes of BeIN Sports and Amnesty International.
It seems that Caulkin is remaining calm, and we recommend Toon fans to follow his lead as the rumours continue to swirl.
