A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from NUFC 360, which includes a screenshot of a post by The High Street Group.
The post claims that they are ‘delighted’ to have sealed the purchase of Strawberry Place and say that they are the ‘sole developer’ and will be building apartments, office space and a hotel.
Strawberry Place is the land next to The Strawberry pub, and these new buildings will block off the view of St. James’ Park.
This has angered these Toon fans, who have not held back in their assessment of this situation.
Has this news angered you?
Yes, I am fuming
No, could be good for the city
In non-takeover related news, sad to see the latest developments regarding Strawberry Place.
The land being sold was a disgrace and now they’ll erect buildings to block the view of our iconic stadium. #NUFC pic.twitter.com/GuVT6pyUKa

I hate Mike Ashley

RIP SJP, killed without protest and help from the council
If this takeover happens long term we’ll be moving whereas we could have stayed and turned the Strawberry Place land into a fanpark & club museum

What do we think?
Some fans appear to fear that this could mean the Magpies might have to leave St. James’ Park if they wish to expand the stadium.
Mike Ashley previously sold the land for £9m, and it now looks like construction will begin on these new building projects, which will cost £120m – and this has not gone down well with many Toon fans.
