Football Insider has released a report regarding the proposed takeover of Newcastle United, and they claim that ‘the Premier League are close’ to approving Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed takeover of the Toon.

The piece claims that the league have ‘overseen a forensic investigation into allegations of illegal streaming’, but a Newcastle source has told Football Insider that the Premier League have failed to find sufficient evidence to block the sale of the club.  

It is claimed that those high up in the league have wanted a ‘thorough probe’ of the consortium that intends to end Mike Ashley’s reign at St James’ Park.  

Football Insider also claims that there is ‘growing confidence’ that the takeover will soon be confirmed.  

It’s also stated that it comes as a ‘massive boost for Newcastle fans’.

The deal for this Saudi-backed consortium to take Newcastle from Ashley has been with the Premier League for a while now – after a deposit was paid and the relevant documents were exchanged.  

decision was expected at some point last week, but the emergence of new evidence linked to piracy pushed this back.  

However, it seems that the deal is edging closer to completion, and this report supports what Paul Smith said on the 15th.  

He claimed that the league were ‘very close’ to approving the takeover, and it seems like we might not have to wait long for the Premier League’s approval.  

Numerous challenges from the likes of BeIN Sports and Amnesty International have challenged this takeover, but this report from Football Insider suggests that none of these have been successful.  

Newcastle fans might not have to wait long to hear official confirmation that their club has been sold.
