A group of Newcastle United fans have been discussing Mike Ashley’s plans for life after he has sold the Magpies. According to Chronicle Live, the 55-year-old has been in the United States throughout the UK’s lockdown and is keeping tight-lipped in regards to the takeover.
It has been reported that Ashley intends to use some of the £300m he is set to make from the club’s sale to ‘shore up his faltering high street empire’, according to the Evening Standard. The takeover is currently in the hands of the Premier League, which is currently conducting their owners’ and directors’ tests, but there is still no word on whether the prospective owners have been given the green light for the deal to be concluded.
Here is how some of the St. James’ Park faithful have responded to what Ashley may have planned for the future.

What do we think?
The tone of the replies tells you all you need to know about the supporters’ feelings towards their current owner. Whilst the fans wait anxiously for an announcement regarding the takeover, some appear to be sceptical about its completion and fear they could be stuck with Mike Ashley if the deal collapses.
