Some Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by West Ham United-focused Twitter account @WHUTwitTalk which relayed claims that current Magpies owner Mike Ashley “is keen on buying” David Gold’s stake in West Ham.
This tweet cites Robbie James King as the original source of this alleged news after he made this claim via a tweet of his own.
Plenty of Toon fans have had their say on this rumour by sharing a negative view of Ashley in response to this post, with one Newcastle supporter going so far as to declare that “every fan of any club deserves better” than Ashley, who they describe as a “parasite”.

NEWS ?: Mike Ashley is keen on buying David Gold’s 45% stake in West Ham. This would make Sullivan and Ashley the main decision makers. Ashley is ready to return to a club already and is looking to invest the money from the Newcastle sale. [Source: robbiejamesking]

As a Newcastle fan, I’m not massively keen on West Ham. But I do not wish Mike Ashley on any club and I hope that this news is not true

What do we think?
It may be fair to say that these rumours about Ashley’s alleged interest in West Ham should be taken with a pinch of salt, however, it’s clear by the reaction from these Magpies supporters that they don’t feel that Ashley would be a good addition to any football club.
Considering that Ashley has been an unpopular figure among Toon fans during his tenure at St. James’ Park, this reaction may not be too surprising.
