Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by Magpies-focused Twitter account @NUFCgallowgate which shares a report claiming that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will be Mauricio Pochettino’s “main objective” in the transfer market, should Pochettino become the manager of the Toon following the completion of the proposed Saudi-backed takeover of the club.

This tweet includes a link to an article from the Daily Star which relays this report linking Kane with a Pochettino-led Newcastle United. This alleged news originally surfaced from Spanish publication Todofichajes who have claimed that an agreement is close between Pochettino and Newcastle for the Argentinian coach to become the Magpies’ next manager, should the proposed Saudi-backed takeover of the Toon be completed.

This report also claims that Pochettino would make Kane his primary transfer target. This alleged news has drawn a sceptical reaction from some of the Toon fans who have been responding to @NUFCgallowgate’s tweet. Read the replies of some Newcastle fans to this post in the tweets below.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

Do you think that Harry Kane is a realistic target for Newcastle United if this takeover is completed?

YES, OF COURSE

YES, OF COURSE

NO WAY

NO WAY

What do we think?

As per the Daily Mail, Newcastle United’s proposed new owners would become the wealthiest in the Premier League, should this takeover be completed. With that in mind, it may not come as a surprise that the club are being linked with players such as Kane, who is currently valued at £108m by Transfermarkt and managers such as Pochettino, who guided Tottenham Hotspur to the UEFA Champions League final back in the 2018/19 campaign.

However, considering that this takeover hasn’t officially been announced yet, it may be wise of these Newcastle fans to take this report with a grain of salt.
