A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from NUFC 360, which has relayed news from L’Equipe regarding Luis Campos.
The report in L’Equipe (via Get French Football News) claims that Campos has turned down an offer from the Toon to become their new Sporting Director.
A separate report believes that Campos has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur, so that could explain why he has turned Newcastle down, however, L’Equipe reports of conflicting claims that suggest he wants to stay with Lille, despite talk elsewhere (via RMC Sport) that he wants to depart the Ligue 1 club.
Rumours of Campos turning down Newcastle has drawn the attention of these Toon fans.

This means the takeover is done if we’re looking for this sort of staff, surely..?

Does tie in with the claim that they’re planning as if they own the club, the tests being simply a formality. The stuff they can do before addressing the inside of the club like facilities which they won’t have access to until it’s confirmed.

What do we think?
Newcastle are in the middle of a proposed takeover that could see Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium take the Toon from Mike Ashley.
The deal is currently with the Premier League going through the required checks after a deposit was paid to Ashley.
The Independent’s Miguel Delaney believes that the Toon are now looking for new staff for key roles and have contacted various people for the role of Sporting Director.
So, the Toon might have contacted Campos, but it seems that he is not interested.
