Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest reported update concerning the club’s potential takeover.
This comes as Newcastle news Twitter account @NUFC360 shared a post on their page revealing that after being asked by ChronicleLive whether a decision to ratify the proposed takeover of the club had been made, Premier League chiefs would not comment publicly on the matter.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their reactions to this latest development.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:
When asked by ChronicleLive today whether a decision to grant Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund the ownership of the Magpies had been made, top-flight chiefs would not comment publicly on the matter. #NUFC https://t.co/EdHzhiwmaH

The PL are covering themselves legally before sanctioning it. Trust.

if this was Man United they were buying, it would’ve been given the green light by mid April. @premierleague has an anti-NUFC bias.

Key word in here is ‘publicly’ meaning they’ve probably told chronicle live ‘off the record’ what’s happening ????

Are you getting impatient with the takeover?
Yes
No
Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-based consortium recently paid a deposit and exchanged contracts with club owner Mike Ashley. The Premier League is now completing the required checks for the takeover to be officially granted (per Sky Sports). Now that it has been revealed that Premier League executives did not reveal any further update on the matter, this sparked a big reaction on Twitter.
This is an absolute disgrace that this is going on and it’s taking the @premierleague so long, had it been one of the top clubs like @ManUtd,@ManCity @ChelseaFC it would of been passed a while ago however because it’s little olé @NUFC they are looking for anyway to fail it

This needs resolving one way or another. Imagine if it dragged on all this time and didn’t pass.

Their timescale is a disgrace.people having meetings for meetings sake and trying to justify fat cat salaries and expenses. Disgraceful

What do we think?
It only makes sense that the chief executives would not reveal any information on the takeover until all the appropriate checks are completed. These Newcastle fans will now just have to stay patient for an official announcement.
