Fans of Newcastle have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which shares footage of Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

The footage, which was uploaded by the official Newcastle Twitter account, shows Saint-Maximin receiving the ball under pressure towards his own goal, before beating his opponent and driving down the touchline and eventually passing to a teammate.

To kick things off, who is this man from the 2009/10 season?

In reaction to the footage, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many claiming that the club’s best tactic is simply giving the 23-year-old the ball and letting him run with it, while others have shared messages of adoration for the winger.

Since arriving at Newcastle from OGC Nice for a fee of £16.20 million last summer, Saint-Maximin has gone on to make 18 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing one assist, while averaging an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.18.

Does Saint-Maximin have the potential to become a Newcastle great?

And it would appear that Newcastle fans have quickly taken to the winger, with many more sending messages of support to the player.

Considering how excited these Newcastle fans appear to be after watching the footage of Saint-Maximin in training, with the recent announcement that the Premier League is set to return on June 17, they will not have much longer to wait to see the winger back in a Newcastle shirt.

With nine games remaining of the season and Newcastle on 35 points – eight above the relegation zone – it would seem as if the club can consolidate their place in the Premier League next year by picking up just a few more points. And with the club having Watford, West Ham United, Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion still to play, all of whom are currently below Newcastle in the league table, it would seem as if they have a great chance to do so.
