Many Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account which shares footage from a recent Toon training session.

This post from the club’s official Twitter account shares footage of Fabian Schar performing a sliding tackle on Isaac Hayden, after which Hayden spends some time on the ground to recover. In addition to sharing this footage, this tweet also jests that “it looks like the lads are following non-contact training to the letter this morning”.

As per the club’s official website, Newcastle returned to their club’s training ground in small groups last week for the first time since professional football was postponed in England back in March. Since then, earlier this week it was announced that the Premier League’s shareholders voted “unanimously to resume contact training”, which they explained allows players to “engage in tackling”.

Judging by this footage, it’s apparent that Newcastle United’s squad haven’t wasted much time in taking advantage of that ruling.

This post has caught the attention of many Magpies supporters who have been responding to share their opinions on this footage. Some Toon fans found humour in the fact that it was Hayden who was on the receiving end of this tackle.

Some Newcastle supporters were full of praise for Schar, who executed this challenge on Hayden.

However, some Magpies fans seemed to be somewhat concerned with regard to the intensity of this tackle, with one Toon supporter seemingly predicting that Hayden may have suffered an injury.

Considering that professional football was postponed back in March and clubs were only given the go-ahead to resume contact training this week, it may be nice for Toon fans to see their players tackling like this as it may give them a sense of normality, following some quite unusual times in recent months due to the current viral outbreak which forced a halt to the professional game in England.
