Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Lee Ryder relays reports of Newcastle United’s financial situation.

According to reports in the Chronicle Live, Newcastle United recently released their accounts, which showed that the club made a £34.7 million profit for figures ending June 2019 – a significant increase from the previous year, when the club made an £18.6 million profit.

In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by Ryder on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many airing their outrage at the profit made by the club, as fans with season tickets are yet to receive a refund for the matches that they will not be able to attend throughout the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, other fans have stated their disgrace regarding the fact that the club is currently using the government’s furlough scheme to pay its staff, which, considering the sizeable profits that the club made over the last year, would appear to show that Mike Ashley is taking advantage of the scheme when he does not necessarily require the help.

With Newcastle currently in the middle of a £300 million takeover deal, one fan has suggested that the release of Newcastle’s positive figures could be a move from Ashley to show the potential new investors that the club is financially sound, while others have questioned what the current owner is hiding from the fans.
