Many Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust (NUST), in which they state that the Magpies haven’t confirmed any plans to refund ticket money that NUST claims supporters are “entitled to following the announcement that the remaining games for the 2019/20 season will be played behind closed doors”.
The Premier League recently shared a statement via their official website in which they confirm that the 2019/20 season is currently set to resume on Wednesday 17 June, with all remaining Premier League games for the 2019/20 season set to be played behind closed doors.
Following further discussions with @NUFC, they are yet to confirm any plans to refund ticket money that supporters are entitled to following the announcement that the remaining games for the 2019/20 season will be played behind closed doors.
What are your thoughts? #NUFC

This post from NUST has drawn a negative reaction from plenty of Toon supporters, many of whom have taken the opportunity to respond to this post with criticism for the club’s owner Mike Ashley.

Breach of contract, could well take the club to court, what they have done is illegal and in breach of all kinds of consumer rights laws. The clubs asks for loyalty and support, yet it treats us all with concept and exploits us. Maybe we should raise with @ChiOnwurah

Some Toon fans raised the idea of taking legal action against the club if they are not given refunds for the upcoming games that they will be unable to attend.
Would you prefer to get a refund for these remaining games or get the season ticket for the 2020/21 campaign at a discount?REFUNDDISCOUNT |
Surely it becomes a legal matter when fans who have paid for tickets to watch football cannot use the ticket to watch football?

It’s essentially illegal as soon as our first home game takes place.
It’s fraud….they’ve taken money for a service they know they can’t provide.

Meanwhile, some Newcastle fans responded to this post by sharing that they don’t mind if they aren’t given a refund for these upcoming home games – as long as the money for those matches is deducted from the season ticket price for the 2020/21 campaign.
Just deduct it from my ticket next season..

Considering that the Premier League have confirmed that supporters won’t be able to attend their clubs’ remaining league fixtures for the 2019/20 season, it may be understandable why most of these Newcastle fans seem upset by NUST’s tweet claiming that the Magpies aren’t planning to offer their fans refunds at present.
