Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which City winger Raheem Sterling shares a photograph.

In his tweet, the 25-year-old shared an image of himself back in Manchester City training, adding the comment: “June 17th.”

The date that Sterling mentions is the scheduled date for the return of Premier League football, which had been suspended for three months, with Manchester City facing Arsenal in one of the first games back.

Since joining Manchester City from Liverpool for a fee of £57.33 million back in 2015, Sterling has gone on to make 230 appearances for the club, scoring 89 goals and providing 72 assists, helping his side to win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups and one Community Shield.

So far this season, Sterling has been in fine form for City, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist over his 24 Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.19/10.

In addition to this, the winger’s contributions in the Champions League have also been impressive, scoring five goals and providing two assists over his seven fixtures in the competition so far, averaging a match rating of 7.67.

As such, it is no wonder why many of these City fans are delighted to see Sterling back in action.

Although it looks as if the Premier League title will not be returning to Manchester this season (as Liverpool are currently 25 points ahead of City), Pep Guardiola’s side are still in the Champions League, with the second leg of their last-16 tie against Real Madrid reportedly to be played in August.

As such, although the remaining league fixtures would appear to be all but a formality for City, they will almost certainly help their team prepare for the fixture against Real Madrid.
