Many Liverpool fans have been responding to a tweet by @empireofthekop labelling the decisions to sign Virgil van Dijk and Alisson as a ‘masterstroke’.
The Dutch defender signed for the Reds in January 2018 from Southampton for £76.19m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). In July that same year, Alisson Becker arrived at Anfield from Italian giants Roma in a deal reportedly worth £56.25m. In their first season together, the Reds finished second, just a point off of the top spot having accumulated an impressive 97 points – and they are on course to win their first Premier League title this season if and when it is deemed safe enough for the competition to resume.
Here is what some of the club’s supporters have had to say in response to the post.
The difference these two have made to Liverpool is remarkable. Before they arrived they could be 3.0 up with 15 mins to go and still draw the game. Now they go 1.0 up after 5 minutes and its almost game over

Don’t forget how Jurgen held out for the Van Dijk rather than going for a plan B option

Two huge signings for the spine of the team… even with the amount spent, they were both steals

Is Liverpool's improvement solely down to these two?
Yes

What do we think?
These Liverpool supporters clearly agree with the view expressed in the original post. The team’s notable improvement since the pair arrived tells the story and Jurgen Klopp has received much praise from these fans for identifying the two and bringing them to Merseyside.
