A group of Liverpool supporters have been discussing a Twitter post by @AnfieldRd96 which contains two images. One is of Jurgen Klopp, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk with the Premier League trophy in the background and the other is of former boss Roy Hodgson posing with the club’s shirt after his appointment.
The choice of images is to compare how this supporter saw this year going and the way things have turned out. The Premier League was suspended back in March due to the global pandemic and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were on course to win their first title since the 1989/90 season.
Hodgson’s time at Anfield, in our view, was somewhat underwhelming as he was sacked in January 2011 after just 31 games in charge – hence the decision to use a picture of him to represent the current times.
Although it is possible the competition could resume next month, in the eyes of some, the current circumstances have taken the gloss off of what would have been a wonderful time for the Liverpool fans.
Here is how a sample of how some fans have responded to the post.

What do we think?
It is clear that none of these Liverpool fans remember Roy Hodgson’s tenure with any great fondness. The 72-year-old won just 13 of his 31 matches in charge (via Transfermarkt.co.uk), making it very difficult to look back on his time at Anfield as anything other than a failure.
