Fans of Everton have taken to social media to swoon over the Toffees’ former player Tim Cahill after a tweet from the Australian.

On Sunday afternoon, the 40-year-old quote-tweeted a post from @bbcmerseysport which revealed that Everton supporters had voted Cahill into the club’s all-time Premier League XI (per Tim Cahill), which had fans swooning.

The retired Australian was voted into the team by supporters alongside Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in the centre of midfield after receiving 62% of the vote (per @bbcmerseysport).

So, after the 40-year-old revealed he thought that it was ‘awesome’, that he had ‘massive respect’ for the other players in the side and gave ‘big love’ to Everton supporters  (per Tim Cahill), fans continued to gush.

As can be judged from the responses of Everton supporters, it is clear to see that the Goodison Park faithful still highly regard their former attacking midfielder and believe he fully deserved his spot in the side.

After Cahill bagged a whopping 68 goals and 29 assists in 276 appearances for Everton (per Transfermarkt) over an eight-year stay in Merseyside (per Transfermarkt), it is clear to see why supporters are still so keen on their former player.
