Fans of Everton have taken to social media to slam the Toffees’ Paraguayan former player Antolín Alcaraz.
On Sunday evening, @grandoldteam mentioned the central defender and criticised him for one performance in particular, however, that led Everton fans to slate the entirety of his time with the Toffees.
Just me who still has nightmares of Alcaraz in Kiev? *shudders pic.twitter.com/mxyCSbLjhx

Not just Kiev. I had a Facebook memory today that essentially blamed Alcaraz for the wheels coming off during that run-in in 2014.

Nightmares anytime he played. A barometer of how bad a central defender can be

Defo the chicken that night and for that matter his entire Everton career.

Do you believe supporters are being overly harsh on Antolín Alcaraz here? No, he was dreadfulYes, he wasn't that bad |
The now 37-year-old Olimpia defender spent two seasons with the Toffees between 2013 and 2015, having arrived at the club from Wigan Athletic and departed for UD Las Palmas (per Transfermarkt).
In those two seasons, Alcaraz made 21 appearances in which he neither scored nor assisted (per Transfermarkt) but did convince Everton supporters that he lacked talent.
How we ever had him in our team I don’t know. How we’ve STILL got Martina is another mystery!

Worst player to put on an Everton shirt I’ve seen

What do we think?
As can be seen in the responses from these Everton supporters, it is clear that they did not rate Alcaraz over his two-year stint with the Toffees.
However, a 7/10 average rating over eight Premier League appearances in his final season with the Toffees (per WhoScored) may suggest that supporters are being overly harsh on the defender.
