Fans of Everton have been reacting to a transfer rumour, which has linked the Toffees with a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Silva.
According to both TuttoMercatoWeb and journalist Nicolo Schira, Carlo Ancelotti is interested in making a move for the Brazilian defender to sign him on a free transfer, which had fans talking (via @ToffeeTVEFC).
Would you like to see the PSG leader at Everton?! #efc pic.twitter.com/AtLgenn383

No, not at 35. It won’t be worth the money. I remember the last time we had two 37 years old centre halves at the same time and it wasn’t good.

I think we need more influence on and off the pitch, a proper leader that holds the rest of the team to the highest of standards. If he brings that, than it’s a no brainer for me

All about the image to attract better players, as long as we don’t go for too many older players. He would transform our image overnnight.

Would Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva be a good signing for the Toffees?Yes, it's a no-brainerNo, he's past it now |
With the 35-year-old defender’s contract set to expire with his current Ligue 1 club at the end of June, Silva would be available to the Toffees on a free transfer – if PSG do not offer him a new deal (per Transfermarkt).
However, after the transfer link was shared to Everton fans on social media (via @ToffeeTVEFC), supporters continued airing their mixed reactions.
In a heartbeat. He’s still got 2 years left in him and Holgate could learn a lot playing with him.

No doubting his abilities – but would be naive to say this wouldn’t be a risky move for all parties

35 swerve

In an ideal world yes. He’s been one of the exceptional defenders on continent in last 10 years. His departure IMO played a key part in sharp Milan decline (plus inability to replace etc)
However he’s aging, it’d be a new league that I’m not sure he’s ideal for, then his wages.— Andreas Wätt (@Wattawildworld) May 23, 2020
Would be a massive coup for us.

What do we think?
As can be seen in these responses from Everton supporters, it is clear to see that they are divided over Silva, with some believing he should be a nailed-on signing and others not so sure.
A 6.97/10 average rating across 21 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2019/20 season (per WhoScored) would suggest that the 35-year-old is still capable, though.
