Fans of Everton have been reacting to a transfer link which has emerged between the Toffees and Inter centre-back Diego Godin.

According to Calciomercato Inter (as cited by Everton), the Toffees are one of ‘several admirers’ of the Uruguayan defender in the Premier League.

The report states that Antonio Conte is unimpressed with the 34-year-old centre-back and is, therefore, willing to part with him in the next transfer window (via @TheGwladysSt).

Alongside the Goodison Park club, it is also understood that Manchester United are interested in Godin and the player likes both of the supposed options (per Calciomercato Inter via InterLive).

A possible swap deal between the Red Devils and Inter with Godin and Nemanja Matic going in opposite directions could swing the defender towards Old Trafford, though.

The experienced central defender is the second in his position to be linked with the Toffees in recent days as Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo has also been touted.

According to Todo Fichajes, the deal for the French defender is already done and he will be arriving at Goodison Park from the Catalan club in ‘the coming months’.

However, after the news of the supposed interest in Godin was relayed to fans on social media (via @TheGwladysSt), supporters aired their reaction to it.

To kick off this quiz on the goings-on with the Toffees last week, which brand did the club announce would be their new kit maker in mid-week?

While it was reported that the player has not impressed Conte, Godin has been the eighth-best performer for Inter in Serie A this season with a respectable 6.95/10 average rating (per WhoScored).

Everton fans were not keen, though.

Would you be pleased if the Toffees signed Diego Godin from Inter?

Alongside his sturdy average rating, a deeper dive into his statistics in Serie A this season suggest that the 34-year-old defender is still a capable player.

In Inter’s squad, Godin has made the fourth-most tackles per Serie A game on average (1.5) and the most interceptions on average (1.8) (per WhoScored). However, fans were still not keen.

As can be seen in these responses from Everton fans, none are keen on the idea of the Toffees signing the Uruguayan as many believe the player to be too old.
