Fans of Everton have been airing their dislike for a suggestion on how the remainder of the Premier League season should be played out.

The reaction came after a suggestion from the Professional Footballers’ Association chief executive Gordon Taylor, who stated that the Premier League should consider under 45-minute halves when play is resumed (per BBC). Many Everton fans hated this information after a journalist shared his view on it (via @GregOK).

The suggestion from Taylor was to help ‘combat player fatigue’ due to clubs having to play a large number of games over a short period of time if play is to be resumed (per BBC).

However, after The Athletic journalist Greg O’Keeffe suggested that the idea was like an idea that fictional comedy character Alan Partridge would have (per @GregOK), supporters aired their disapproval by making ironic suggestions.

What do we think?

As can be seen in the responses from these Everton supporters, they hate the suggestion that the Premier League would return with halves shorter than 45 minutes.

However, that eventuality seems unlikely as it was merely a suggestion from Taylor and the Premier League have stated that the idea is “not on the table” (per BBC).
