Supporters of Everton have taken to Twitter to discuss the Toffees’ defender Luke Garbutt, who is currently on loan with Ipswich Town.
On Thursday, it was the left-back’s 27th birthday and to mark the occasion @EvertonNewsFeed posted a birthday message and an image of the Englishman, which had supporters discussing him.

Finally out of contract & off Everton’s books this summer. The decision to give him a new 5 year contract in June 2015 is one of the all time terrible EFC business decisions. He’s not made a single appearance for Everton in those 5 years. pic.twitter.com/cggNIsy2d3

Should Luke Garbutt be released by the Toffees at the end of next month?Yes, he needs to goNo, should keep him |
Garbutt has been with the Toffees since the club paid £608,000 to secure his services from Leeds United in 2009 (per Transfermarkt) and since then the Englishman has made only 12 senior appearances for Everton (per Transfermarkt).
So, with the left-back having turned 27 (via @EvertonNewsFeed), supporters continued discussing his time at Goodison Park.
27 he needed to leave and find a permanent club years ago I thought he was 23 ish .. what a wasted career .

What do we think?
As can be seen in these responses from Everton supporters, it is clear to see that they believe Garbutt failed to live up to any potential that he previously had.
Having had six loan spells away from the Toffees since 2011 (per Transfermarkt), it seems probable that the 27-year-old will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next month (per Transfermarkt).
