Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been fuming over recent comments made by former Villa striker Darren Bent.

This comes after Villa-focused Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their page that contained an article from the Birmingham Mail relaying Bent’s comments to Football Insider in response to Villa chief executive Christian Purslow, after he hinted that he may be in favour of any proposal that removes the possibility of relegation if and when the current Premier League season resumes.

Who scored Villa's goal in their 1-0 win against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014/15 Premier League season?

Bent claimed the effects that no relegation would have on the Championship, League One and League Two would be “disgusting” in response to Purslow’s suggestion that there would be a ‘£200m catastrophe’ that would befall Villa if they go down, amid claims the season could be completed without the threat of demotion.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on Bent.

Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:

It seems as though these Villa fans are not impressed with Bent’s latest comments on the club he spent over four years at during his playing career.
