Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been fuming over recent comments made by former Villa striker Darren Bent.
This comes after Villa-focused Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their page that contained an article from the Birmingham Mail relaying Bent’s comments to Football Insider in response to Villa chief executive Christian Purslow, after he hinted that he may be in favour of any proposal that removes the possibility of relegation if and when the current Premier League season resumes.
Bent claimed the effects that no relegation would have on the Championship, League One and League Two would be “disgusting” in response to Purslow’s suggestion that there would be a ‘£200m catastrophe’ that would befall Villa if they go down, amid claims the season could be completed without the threat of demotion.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on Bent.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Aston villa must have really hurt @DarrenBent as he constantly has issues with us .

Darren Bent, the laziest player I have ever seen play in a Villa shirt

Why oh why do you carry on printing the ‘World according to Darren Bent’. Along with Danny Murphy and Jamie O’Hara, he is in the top 3 worst soccer pundits at the moment. Is it a coincidence their main work is for Talksport ?

Do you remember Bent's time at Villa fondly?
Yes
No
Bent is really dim

All this talk about ‘integrity’ makes me laugh. No fans, no celebrating goals, no handshakes, neutral venues, reduced playing time…..just make a decision now so we can all get on with it.

Well it’s money grabbing useless players like him that got us in this place. They want us to give up our home advantages and we set nothing for it. I know why not take a point off every team that won at home to make it fair

What do we think?
It seems as though these Villa fans are not impressed with Bent’s latest comments on the club he spent over four years at during his playing career.
