Fans of Aston Villa have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays news of a government statement regarding the resumption of Premier League football.
The government recently gave the Premier League the green light for the 2019/20 season, which has been suspended since March, to resume from 1 June.
In reaction to the news, which was relayed by Villareport on Twitter, fans of Villa flocked to have their say on the matter, with many questioning why they aren’t allowed to play football in a park with non-family members, but the Premier League is allowed to resume, while others have stated their belief that the season will not resume any time soon.
Do you believe that the 2019/20 Premier League season will resume in June?

We were about 3 weeks behind Germany in the Pandemic, but we feel like the season can restart at practically the same time ????? money is driving the authorities into mad decisions.

The important word is could. The Clubs still have to agree and prove to the players and their families that it is safe to play. The Government has simply passed the buck

Cricket, a non contact sport cannot return until at least 1st July. How can football possibly return sooner????

What do we think?
As many of the Villa fans point out, the news that Premier League football is free to resume from 1 June is rather surprising, while also appearing quite unrealistic.
The country is still in a dire situation, and, although lockdown restrictions have been loosened somewhat, it is difficult to imagine how Premier League football will be able to resume while adhering to the government advice regarding social distancing.
As such, despite the government’s approval, it would appear that there are still many obstacles to navigate before football can resume in England.
