Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been discussing Eni Aluko after her latest posts on social media.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @HeartOfTheHolte shared a post on their page claiming that Aluko “embarrassed herself” after she shared a number of “ludicrously ill-informed” posts on her official Twitter page.
This post contained two images of Aluko’s tweets in which she claimed that the government’s furlough scheme, allowing workers to receive 80% of their wages whilst not working, has “perpetuated a culture of do-nothing entitlement.”
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were not shy in letting their feelings on Aluko and her posts known.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Eni Aluko, our women's sporting director, has embarrassed herself and the club again with a series of ludicrously ill informed tweets this evening.
People aren't on furlough because they are lazy, they are on it because staying home saves lives and helps us beat the virus. pic.twitter.com/dCQhdxmGMt

Her comments about death being a daily occurance proves how clueless and off the mark she is. Embarrassing stuff.

Coming from someone who has probably never worked a hard days graft in her life…. she has to get sacked for that!

Uncomfortable read. Very uncomfortable. @AVFCOfficial will surely address this tomorrow morning.

Should Aluko be sacked for her recent comments?
Yes
No
Aluko was announced as the club’s sporting director for their women’s team back in January. After she recently tweeted her opinions on the furlough scheme, Aluko has since issued a statement apologising for her remarks (per BBC Sport).
The only one who comes across as entitled is her.

I shuddered at her getting a job with us after seeing her on Sky Sports a few times. She is absolutely clueless & these tweets are embarrassing

People who are on furlough (like me) are beyond worried about what will happen to our jobs and the economy. Then this entitled fool who thinks she is is some kind of sporting legend comes out with this. Get out of our club.

What do we think?
The fact that Aluko has had to issue a statement of apology just goes to show how offensive her comments were.
