Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the club’s chances of being relegated this season.
This comes after Villa journalist Dan Bardell shared a post on his official Twitter account quote-tweeting a post from @talkSPORT which relayed the news that the current Premier League season is set to resume again in June.
Bardell captioned his post revealing that he is “officially worried about relegation again”.
This post from the journalist then quickly gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the club’s chances of Premier League survival this year.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:

I think we have a better chance of staying up now than before for what it’s worth, we were only heading in one direction before the break. Since then we’ve had time to regroup and get some key players fit. All teams around us have now lost momentum. Players owe it to Dean Smith.

Before the season was temporarily suspended due to the impact of the current global pandemic, Villa had won just seven of their 28 Premier League matches, drawing four and losing 17 (per BBC Sport).
I’m not worried about it now, the last 2 months or so have put things into a lot of perspective, if we get relegated then so be it, obviously don’t want to, and don’t think we will, but not going to be worried about it. ?

When you look at all the scenarios for deciding the league that have been proposed, playing out the season is probably the best chance for us to stay up

Will Aston Villa be in the Premier League next season?
Yes
No
We need to treat it as a cup final, our destiny is in our hands now and that is the way it should be. UTV.

Now that Bardell has shared this post on his official Twitter page revealing his concerns over Villa’s future in the Premier League, this sparked a big debate on Twitter as many fans weighed in on how they see the remainder of the season going for the Villans, with some Villa fans not as optimistic as others regarding the club’s survival hopes.

Think it’s a given now. We are – in reality, a championship team.

It’s good to see that at least some of these Villans are optimistic and feeling positive about Villa’s chances of Premier League survival.
However, given where Villa currently sit in the league table and the number of defeats they have suffered so far this season, it’s understandable why some supporters would be unsure on whether or not their team has it within them to fight for survival when the season resumes.
The best way Villa can restore the faith in the fans that aren’t as hopeful as others regarding relegation is to get a positive result in their first match back when the league restarts.
Their first match will be against Sheffield United on June 17 due to the fact that the club currently have a game in hand due to their participation in the Carabao Cup final earlier in the season.
