Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been discussing the possibility of a transfer deal for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
This comes after Villa news Twitter account @AVFC_News shared a post on their official page asking their followers if they think the club should “go back” for Phillips when the transfer window opens.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were keen on having their say on the matter.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Should Villa go back in for him when the window opens? #avfc #lfc https://t.co/yQZ1ArLQvv

He’ll be in the PL next season.
If Leeds don’t go up they’ll have to sell him.— Phil (@DemonDays87) May 2, 2020
@Nick28T that’s a HELL YES
— Slimdown_Carl (@avfcarl3) May 2, 2020
Nah. We missed the boat, he’ll go to a more pronounced prem club (if Leeds don’t go up).

Not a chance, whatever league we are in he will stay at Leeds anyway for now
— Nigel J Moore ?? (@Moorski7) May 2, 2020
He probably wouldn’t come

Did Villa make a mistake in not signing Kalvin Phillips last summer?
Yes
No
Phillips has been a regular figure for Marcelo Bielsa’s side so far this year having made a total of 34 appearances for the Yorkshire side across all competitions (per Transfermarkt).
The post contained an article from the Birmingham Mail who claim that Villa were interested in signing Phillips last summer.
As well as the supporters that think the club shouldn’t make another attempt at trying to sign Phillips again, there were some Villa fans that believed the club made a mistake in not signing the midfielder in the previous summer transfer window.
We should have paid the asking price back when we had the chance. Instead we’ve signed a ghost from Brazil. Suso clearly knows better

We missed our chance when signed Luiz and Nakamba. Just like we missed out on Benrahma and get Trezeguet instead. All I can say is do one Suso and Co!!!

What do we think?
Whether Villa will try to secure Phillips’ signature once again is still unknown.
